Breast cancer was first noted and recorded by the Egyptians as ulcers, or tumors of the breast. According to them there was no specific cure for it and the only option to survive was to eradicate the infected area from the body. In the following decades, a number of such cases were recorded and doctors concluded that there was no cure or proper treatment for it.

Breast carcinoma in situ

Breast carcinoma in situ is known as ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). In this stage of cancer, the cancer cells are present in the milk duct of your breast and keep growing there without spreading to other areas or to the surrounding tissues. It is the initial stage of non-invasive breast cancer. At times doctors also consider breast carcinoma in situ as a ‘preinvasive’ form. Breast carcinoma in situ is the most occurring type of non-invasive cancer.

Advanced breast cancer

Advanced breast cancer is known as Metastatic cancer. It is the stage in which the cancer spreads out to other organs. This type of cancer is the most advanced stage of breast cancer. At this stage the cancer cells have already spread out to the breast and axillary lymph nodes and here they continue to multiply. Breast cancer is one disease that has the potential to spread anywhere in the body. Usually breast cancer spreads to the bones, liver and the lungs. Treatment of advanced breast cancer (metastatic) usually emphasize on relieving and extending one’s life span.

Paget’s disease of breast

Paget’s disease of breast is also commonly known as Paget’s disease of the nipple. It is a condition that apparently may look like eczema with conditions changes in the skin and the nipples. Initially it may be harmless but it is a deadly disease. A similar disease to this is the Extramammary Paget’s disease which has nearly the same histological features but different locations.
